Steelers shut down Dixon

The Pittsburgh Steelers have elected to shut down backup quarterback Dennis Dixon for the rest of the season.

Dixon underwent surgery on his knee and was expected to miss several weeks.

With Big Ben set to return and both Charlie Batch and Byron Leftwich proving serviceable, there was no reason to rush Dixon back.

The team can use his roster spot to keep one of the veteran backup quarterbacks in case there is another big injury. ( Read More…)

Steelers roll past Bucs, 38-13

The Pittsburgh Steelers had no problems putting points on the board in a 38-13 beatdown of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Steelers continued to play musical quarterbacks, this time starting veteran Charlie Batch in place of the injured Dennis Dixon.

Batch failed to throw for more than 200 yards, but he did pass for three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Wide receiver Mike Wallace, who had been quiet thus far this season, topped the 100-yard mark and hauled in two touchdowns. ( Read More…)
